Today we took Urbanus to the AES grading at Solihull, Alex Thompson rode him for us and did a wonderful job. Urban got graded with Registered status, not bad going as he was in good company of 51 other well bred horses, he was the only coloured in the ridden section, he jumped round foot perfect and did us proud.

Urban is going very well, he has competed in 2 dressage competitions, coming 3rd in both with great positive comments from the judges. Due to Mathew being to busy with his ponies on his last year, Urban has a new rider Alex Thompson.
He has been with Alex just a few weeks now and they are looking really good together. He says he is a lovely stallion to work with and has a great temperament. Alex is a quiet but effective rider and really gets the best out of Urban. He is already clocking up his double clears aswell as being well placed. He will be staying with Alex for the foreseeable future and will continue jumping.

Nekoma probably the most successful coloured stallion of all time sadly has passed away. He was competed by Jürgen Kenn at international level showjumping and Nekoma was said to be a great sportsman and a trusted friend. He was a great Puissance specialist regularly clearing 2.30 metres. At 6 years of age he took part in the grand prix at Aachen and at 7 he was one of the 3 most successful German show jumping horses of his age group. He is said to pass on an impressive natural jump, presence and ability. His lifetime winnings exceed 30,000. Although he was never really used in his younger days, the horses he has produced speak for themselves, there are several Nekoma progency competing at high levels around Europe. We ourselves have used Nekoma and have been very impressed with his stock, we feel it is a sad loss of such a wonderful horse. Our thoughts are with his owners.

8th April CHAPS UK grading day
We had a great day on Saturday , Spirit got 1st approved as a dressage stallion which means he will he have to re assessed within 2 years time, the judges thought he was immature still, so hopefully another year on his back and he will fly through and get fully graded. He is only just turned 3 and hasn’t really done anything, so this year we will have him out at some shows and get him more educated. He is getting ready to set off again to be trained on the dummy, due to the non stop of enquiries we have had for him this year we felt he wasn’t ready for covering naturally, so are doing AI with him, he will only be covering a limited number of mares this year anyway. All his foal will get CHAPS UK paperwork with full verified breeding.

Urban got fully graded as a showjumping stallion and also passed his BSJA assessment; he had only arrived back from Belgium 2 weeks previous, and had only been hacking for 2 weeks after having a well deserved break over there. He has only been under saddle 10 and half months so a big thank you to Mathew Sampson who rode him at the grading after only sitting on him 3 times, it just shows what a good temperament he has as Mathew is only 15 and still on ponies, Urban was the only one to jump round clear. Mathew can now take it easy and get used to him better ready for the up and coming shows. This was the hardest grading CHAPS has done, all the system has been changed and it seems for the better, out of over 30 stallions only 6 graded and 2 got 1st approved.

Urban is home and going well with his new rider Mathew Sampson, he will doing his BSJA assesment at the CHAPS grading on april 8th.

24.01.06 Trip to Germany
Went to Germany to visit Jasmin and Orlaf, the people who we bought Sempers Spirit from. The temperature was -10 in the day and we had tones of snow whilst we were there, it limited what we could see and also see out of the stable but we still had a great time.
Firstly we went to see Samico F, very nice people, showed us lots of nice stock by him and also Samico’s Dam and Grand Dam, they had a 3 year colt by him which was very nice, he seems to stamp his stock well. He came out the stable with a lovely calm attitude looked over the fence at the mares and didn’t even talk to them, he had manners to burn. He is currently training piaffe and passage at home and they say he finds the moves easy.
Next we went to see Nitron and Ismo 2 very nice stallions by Nekoma and Illasso , again really nice temperaments, couldn’t see these 2 out of the stables, looked at some nice youngsters there by both stallions and also a couple of fillies by Semper, really nice people , made us very welcome.
Next we went to see Abgotts Painted Joe and Abgotts Jarino the stuff these stallions and there youngstock had won was amazing a whole room full!! we didn’t see Joe out as he was a handful, but Jarino was a really nice type and he had a nice temperament , they had 2 foals by Joe they were of good quality and striking looking, it was nice to see chestnut and white horses.
We also went to Jasmins horses 2 of which are in foal for 2006, she has Loona {Astek/Langraff} Rapunzel {in foal to His Highness} and Elise she is in foal to Mandingo.
Thankyou to Jasmin and Orlaf for taking us round in such terrible weather conditions, we had a very enjoyable time and are hoping to go out real soon and see more of the coloured world out there ...!
Jasmin's mares.
